Privacy policy
Last updated October 30, 2026
Carry Notes is an independent guide to travel bags and airline carry-on limits for readers in Canada. We keep what we collect to a minimum. This page explains what that is.
Who is responsible
Carry Notes is responsible for the personal information described here. Privacy questions go to [email protected].
What we collect
- Server logs. Our web host automatically records your IP address, browser type, the page you asked for and the time. We do not link this to your identity.
- Your messages. If you use our contact form or email us, we keep your name, email address and what you wrote.
- Choices stored on your device. Your cookie choice and, if you allow it, your compare list and Bag Finder settings. These stay in your browser and are never sent to us.
We do not have accounts, a newsletter or a checkout, and we do not ask for payment details. We do not install analytics or advertising scripts.
Why we collect it
- To run the site and keep it secure (server logs).
- To answer you and fix mistakes you report (messages).
- To remember the preferences you ask us to remember (device storage).
We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
The contact form
When you use the form on our contact page, your name, email address, topic and message are sent to us so that we can reply. We use them only for that.
How long we keep it
- Server logs: up to 30 days.
- Messages to us: up to 24 months after we last wrote to you, then deleted.
- Device storage: until you clear it or change your choice.
Amazon and other sites
Product buttons take you to Amazon.ca. From that moment Amazon’s own privacy notice applies. Amazon can tell that you arrived from our site so that we can earn a commission; we do not receive your Amazon account, browsing or purchase details.
Who else sees it
Our web host processes server logs on our behalf and may store them outside Canada. Our email provider handles messages sent to us. We share personal information with others only if the law requires it.
Your rights
Under Canadian privacy law, including PIPEDA and, for Quebec residents, Law 25, you can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and withdraw your consent. Write to [email protected] with “Privacy” in the subject. We reply within 30 days, free of charge. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial regulator.
Cookies and storage
You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie preferences” in the footer. See the cookie policy for the full list.
Children
The site is not aimed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we update the date at the top of the page.
